‘Enlightenment Doctors, Peculiar Powers: On the Vitalist Medicine of the Boerhaave School’

Dr. Rina Knoeff and her postdoctoral researcher Marieke Hendriksen (University of Leiden and University of Groningen) work on the history of  anatomy in relation to early modern philosophy, theology, the history of collections, and art. Dr. Knoeff, who holds a doctorate in the History of Medicine from Cambridge University, previously engaged in post-doctoral research at the universities of Cambridge, Maastricht and Leiden. She is the recipient of a 2012 Vidi/Aspasia grant for the project ‘Vital Matters. Boerhaave’s Chemico-Medical Legacy and Dutch Enlightenment Culture.’
