About us

The Agricola Seminar was founded at the University of Groningen in 2012 to provide a forum for the discussion of premodern history and culture (roughly speaking, history and culture before 1800). It is the successor of EMO, which for several years had been successfully running seminars on medieval topics. The seminar is funded by the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, and ICOG (The Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture).

Students, staff and interested members of the public are welcome to attend the lectures. Staff of the university who would like to offer a paper or who would like to suggest a speaker should contact one of the co-ordinators.
